KueSync terms
The words KueSync uses, in plain English, with the names you may already know them by. Each one links to the guide or FAQ section that shows it on screen.
The fleet
- FleetAlso: show network
- Your show network: one Leader and every Mac and PC it lists. Everything KueSync does runs on the fleet, with no internet needed. Load-in to first slide
- LeaderAlso: primary
- The machine that drives the fleet. It holds the license, takes the presenter remote and sends every cue. You choose it in Settings, This machine, Mode. Load-in to first slide
- FollowerAlso: playback machine, graphics machine, display machine
- Every other machine in the fleet. A follower can present the deck in step with the Leader, or be a full-screen display: the Timer, Notes, Show Flow or Cue Lights. No setup and no license. Every machine starts as a follower. Load-in to first slide
- Backup LeaderAlso: L2, L3, failover
- A second Leader that stands by. If the Leader drops it takes over within seconds, then hands the show back when the Leader returns. One license covers a Leader and one backup. FAQ
- Machine group
- A named set of machines, such as Main and Backup or Stage Left. Pick a group anywhere you pick machines: a deck launch, a clicker, a Companion button. FAQ
- Fleet FolderAlso: shared show folder, network file sharing
- One show folder on every machine, named KueSync Fleet. Add a file on any machine and it copies to all of them within seconds. A way to distribute show files, not a backup. Getting files onto every machine
- Fleet Password
- The password that lets a machine or Companion drive the fleet. The Leader makes one and hands it to each follower you add. You only type it into Companion. FAQ
- Settings and Control PINAlso: PIN
- The PIN that guards a machine's Settings and KueSync Control from other computers. Match it on every machine and adding followers is one click. FAQ
Machines and their switches
- Leader is presenter
- On: the Leader runs the deck too, alongside the followers. Off: the Leader drives the fleet from the tech table and the followers show the slides. Running the decks
- ArmedAlso: Parked when off; Activate and Deactivate in Companion
- A follower that takes the fleet's cues. Turn it off to park the machine: it sits the show out but stays on the network and keeps its Fleet Folder. Running the decks
- Slide driver
- A follower whose own clicker drives the whole fleet. Any follower can be one, wherever it makes sense for the slides to be driven from. Set on the Leader, next to Armed. Who is advancing?
- Dedicated full-screen displayAlso: screen-only machine
- A follower that is only a screen (Timer, Notes, Cue Lights or Show Flow) and never gets pulled into a slideshow. FAQ
- Ignore local clicks
- While a slideshow is up, this machine ignores its own keyboard, mouse and clicker, so nobody near it can push it out of step. Running the decks
- Self-correct
- Brings any machine that ends up on a different slide back to the fleet's slide as the show moves on. FAQ
Running the show
- KueSync ControlAlso: control page
- The control page for every operator in the show, in any browser on the show network: decks, Now Playing, advancers, the Timer, Notes, Show Flow and Cue Lights. Running the decks
- Control windowsAlso: pop-out
- Each part of KueSync Control in a window of its own: the Timer, Notes (the teleprompter controls), Advancers, Show Flow, Mics and Import. Sized to sit side by side, for one operator or several. Running the show clock
- Show CallerAlso: caller
- The person calling the show. Over the internet, a Show Caller link runs Show Flow with GO, and the Timer and decks if you tick them. Remote crew and screens
- Numbered deckAlso: numbered show
- A deck in the Fleet Folder whose name starts with a number from 1 to 9999, like 006 Welcome.pptx. It becomes a one-tap launch on every machine. Folders are fine; one number, one deck. Getting files onto every machine
- Now Playing
- The list in KueSync Control of every deck running, with its machines, its slide and the clicker that drives it. FAQ
- Sync NowAlso: resync
- One press that snaps every machine to the Leader's slide. FAQ
Clickers and advancers
- AdvancerAlso: clicker, slide advancer
- Anything that moves the slides: a USB presenter remote, a DSAN Perfect Cue, a phone clicker, an internet clicker or a slide driver. Who is advancing?
- Clicker linkAlso: phone clicker
- A web page that turns a phone into a clicker on the show network. No app. Master links add Go to slide, Restart and End. Who is advancing?
- Internet clickerAlso: internet slide advancer, remote clicker
- A clicker link a remote presenter opens on their own phone, anywhere with internet, with a PIN. Remote crew and screens
- Advance only
- A clicker setting: Next works, and Back, Go to slide and Blank are ignored. Who is advancing?
- Lock advancers
- One button in KueSync Control that stops every clicker in the fleet. KueSync Control and Companion keep full control. Who is advancing?
The Timer
- KueSync TimerAlso: speaker timer, stage timer, countdown clock
- One show clock for the whole fleet, on every Timer screen, Notes screen and clicker at once. Running the show clock
- Countdown, Count up, Time of day
- The Timer's three modes: down to a limit, up from zero, or a wall clock. Running the show clock
- Time limitAlso: limit
- How long a countdown runs. Type it and press Set, or press a time button. Running the show clock
- Warn atAlso: warning
- The time the clock turns yellow. Count up has a warning of its own. Running the show clock
- STEPAlso: +/- steps
- The two amounts the +/- buttons add or take away, for every operator. Running the show clock
- Hard outAlso: out time
- A countdown to a clock time, like 2:00 pm, however late the segment starts. Running the show clock
- Warp
- The presenter sees the time they were promised, and their clock runs slightly fast so it lands on your real out. They never see a jump. Running the show clock
- Timer messageAlso: speaker message
- Up to three lines under the clock on every Timer screen, sent from KueSync Control. Timer messages and Live notes
- Timer cues
- A list of timed segments in KueSync Control. Take one and the Timer is set and started. Running the show clock
Notes and displays
- KueSync NotesAlso: confidence monitor, speaker notes
- The presenter notes of the slide on screen, read from the deck, full screen on any display. Can be mirrored for a teleprompter. Timer messages and Live notes
- Notes source
- The machine whose deck the Notes screens read. One source for the whole fleet. FAQ
- Cue LightsAlso: cue light
- A full screen that flashes green on a forward cue and red on a back cue, in step with the fleet. FAQ
- Keyable backgroundAlso: chroma
- Black, white, chroma green or chroma blue behind a Timer or Notes screen, so a switcher can key it or put it in a PIP. Timer messages and Live notes
Show Flow
Over the internet
- Internet access
- Extends the fleet to people and screens anywhere. Nothing is shared until you make a link. Remote crew and screens
- Pair code
- A short code entered at kuesync.com/pair, to put a link on a screen without typing it. Remote crew and screens
- Uplink machine
- The fleet machine that carries the connection to kuesync.com. A backup uplink can take over. Remote crew and screens
Working with other gear
- CompanionAlso: Bitfocus Companion, Stream Deck
- Optional. One connection gives Stream Deck buttons for the whole fleet. FAQ
- Follow QLab
- KueSync hears every QLab cue as it starts, and a cue map says what each one runs. FAQ
- Video count-out
- The time left on a Mitti or PlaybackPro clip, on the Timer screen, the Notes screen and in KueSync Control. Video count-outs to the stage
- PTPAlso: Dante clock, grandmaster
- If your network has a Dante or AES67 clock, every KueSync machine locks to it. FAQ
